Raven McLaughlin is a Textile and Graphic Designer from Virginia who currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. After working in the fashion industry for the past ten years, she decided to create Dolorita. Inspired by her mother and Panamanian heritage, Dolorita is a lifestyle brand that highlights the beauty and pride in Afro-Latino, Caribbean and African Diaspora culture. Raven creates art that explores the unique history and tradition behind Carnival — from the costumes and food, to the historical ties to African people celebrating freedom after emancipation. She uses the Panamanian traditions she grew up learning from her mother, the immense Caribbean and Afro-Latino culture in Brooklyn and her travels abroad to places like Cuba, Barbados, Panama, Jamaica and Costa Rica as inspiration.
